The prospect of pursuing your studies in the US will undoubtedly bring about a great deal of excitement and nervousness, but choosing PC AGE and living in such a multi-cultural city like Jersey City will ease your transition, making you feel like you are home in a short amount of time.
If you are applying for an M-1 visa from abroad, upon your arrival to the United States you can expect to spend roughly 2 hours at the airport clearing customs and having your I-94 validated by the Department of Homeland Security. Once you have exited the airport and reach your new home you need to present yourself to your International Student Advisor within 24 hours, providing the day of the week falls on a day in which the school is open. Otherwise, present yourself in person on the next business day.
If you are adjusting your status from within the United States you need to supply all the required documentation, (former I-20, I-94, passport and proof of funding before a new I-20 can be issued to you. Once it is issued you then must apply to the Department of Homeland Security to change your non-immigrant status to M-1. You will need to complete form I-539 and pay the requisite fees to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in order for them to consider your case. You will not be able to start school until your case has been approved by USCIS. Please refer to their website www.uscis.gov to check current processing times.
Our Jersey City location is situated 7.1 miles from mid-town Manhattan and is easily accessible via public transportation. Enjoy the convenience of living in New Jersey while avoiding the stress and time factor of a daily commute to New York. During your off time from school you can enjoy the sights and sounds of Jersey City, such as Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and the Underground Railroad. Jersey City is the home of many ethnic communities ranging from Egyptian to Indian, Korean to West Indian to nearly everything in between.
Your time in Jersey City will be further enriched by our experienced faculty and administrative staff. Should you need any assistance, your International Student Advisor is readily available via telephone, email and in person.
